Spring found us with a deluge of pollen and rain but the clouds are lifting today and little bits of green are shining with dew.

Today I’m thankful for the simple yet meaningful.

  1. The sweet taste of berries on my morning cereal.
  2. The laughter shared with my family that filled my weekend.
  3. The early colors of spring sprinkled throughout the yard.

For what are you thankful?

March 25 UnMonday Thanks

with 10 comments

Do you share your ideas?  I think it’s the most fundamental and grounded human behavior.

This week started for me in the midst of  remarkable cross section of people sharing their ideas and passions.  It’s a transformational experience and for that I am grateful.

This week I am thankful for opportunities of growth:

  1. .. a chance to learn from and be inspired by other people.
  2. .. the patience of others as I stumble around, sometime lost in my own world.
  3. .. a good night’s sleep in my own bed after a handful of restless days.

For what are you thankful?

Monday.

I chose Monday to post to threethanks because I hoped to break it free from it’s normally bad reputation and move it toward the day of hope, of renewal, of gratitude.    Is it working?

On this Monday, I am grateful for things that wake up my mind.

  1. For Mondays, each with a call and a chance to start again.
  2. For the mystery of something new that holds your thoughts and time captive.
  3. .. and for the taste, warmth and smell of my morning coffee – liquid encouragement and a perfect Monday complement.

For what are you thankful?

March 9 Sanctuary, Sunshine, and Safe travels

I can see, hear and smell the vestiges of Spring.   It’s just a short walk over a bridge that spans hardship and worry.

Imagine your Spring, and build a bridge to it.

Today I am thankful for things that make me secure.

  1. The sanctuary of my family and our home.
  2. The sunshine that bounced through the twisted branches of the tree canopy this weekend and left us with a healthy dose of vitamin D.
  3. And for those that do their best every day to ensure our safe travels.

For what are you thankful?

March 2 Bookstores, Bits and Bravery

I have a thing for book stores.  The smell, the lighting, the mood, and the quiet whispers carefully reflecting from pages and sneaking around corners to find their rightful owners …

This is where I go to collect my thoughts, to recapture my muse, to feel whole again.   In the digital Renaissance, book stores march along boldly .. into the valley of death?   I do hope not.

Today, I am thankful for these things that keep me grounded:

  1. Bookstores – lovingly maintained and housing the richness of spirit that deserves a place to rest.
  2. Digital bits that course through networks and bring me face to face with a Holocaust survivor, allow me to hear her story first hand and let it shake me to my core.
  3. The bravery of people who have been persecuted but stand up to face of their fears to speak out against what is incomprehensibly and unconscionably human behavior.

For what are you thankful?
