Sometimes the most foreboding trails are where you discover the most interesting things, and sometimes they are simply more trying.  Either way, when you come to the end you feel a little more satisfied than when you started.

Today I’m thankful for simple things that make the trails and trials bearable:

  1. the kind woman that takes out the trash with her quiet humor.
  2. laughter and smiles just when you need them.
  3. hot coffee in the icy morning and a glass of red wine at the end of another long and trying day.

For what are you thankful?

  1. The day back after a holiday break is always a mild adjustment but we dive in anyway welcoming ways to occupy our minds. Today I am thankful for:

    1) A story to tell that made laughter fill up corners of my work space.
    2) Hot cocoa to draw in the evening and comfort the tongue.
    3) Lip balm that soothes winter wind kisses.

  3. Hot coffee, cold arctic air, and a full mailbox mark the start of a new year. Soon things will be loud and busy, but the start is quiet, and full of possibilities. I’m thankful for:

    1) The end of year pause that helps prepare for a new cycle of creating and working.

    2) Friends who share the burdens, and let you share their burdens, when they need a little help.

    3) Chances to renew, restart and reinvigorate

  4. Simple things made my day today:

    1) that what I thought was a bad goofup in fact ended up solving a problem

    2) after everyone else had left, the presence of a coworker who remembered the combination to the coffeeroom, which I never need because it’s always open – except today, and my cuppa was locked in there

    3) days that are busy enough to pass swiftly, but not so busy that my head is spinning
