May 17 Discoveries

with 5 comments

I like finding things for which I wasn’t looking. Unexpected discoveries of treasures untold are some of my favorite experiences – finding a four leaf clover on your way to retrieve a lost soccer ball, or an Indian arrow head on the short cut back to camp, or a shark’s tooth in your bathing suit (long story). These are the things of fanciful delight.

Today I am thankful for

  1. .. kind words from a stranger.
  2. ..  fast acting ibuprofen.
  3. .. time for a short afternoon nap when I need it most.
For what are you thankful?

May 9 Mysteries

with 2 comments

The tree with the heart is in our front yard. It is our great mystery. We don’t know how it got there (the heart, not the tree) but it stands tall as our sentinel of love amidst the other hardwoods.

Today I am thankful

  1. .. for our quiet guardians.
  2.  .. for the anticipation of a new adventure (and tents large enough to stand up in).
  3.  .. for nature’s simple mysteries.
For what are you thankful?

Osama Bin Laden Killed by US Forced 1May2011

A Day in the Life –  Lennon/McCartney

I read the news today oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grave
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn’t notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They’d seen his face before
Nobody was really sure
If he was from the House of Lords.

I saw a film today oh boy
The English Army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
but I just had to look
Having read the book
I’d love to turn you on

Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in second splat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
and Somebody spoke and I went into a dream

I read the news today oh boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.
I’d love to turn you on

Today I am thankful ..

  1. we have a chance to turn the page and start a new chapter. Let’s not squander it.
  2. for wayward bunnies that wander into the back yard just long enough to take a dandelion leaf and leave a smile.
  3. for thoughtful moments and laughter shared with colleagues – even on the weekend.
For what are you thankful?
