A Day in the Life –  Lennon/McCartney

I read the news today oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grave
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn’t notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They’d seen his face before
Nobody was really sure
If he was from the House of Lords.

I saw a film today oh boy
The English Army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
but I just had to look
Having read the book
I’d love to turn you on

Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in second splat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
and Somebody spoke and I went into a dream

I read the news today oh boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.
I’d love to turn you on

Today I am thankful ..

  1. we have a chance to turn the page and start a new chapter. Let’s not squander it.
  2. for wayward bunnies that wander into the back yard just long enough to take a dandelion leaf and leave a smile.
  3. for thoughtful moments and laughter shared with colleagues – even on the weekend.
For what are you thankful?

  1. Today, I’m thankful for:

    1) the incredible numbers of people who devote their lives to service of others, be it military, police, fire, disaster recovery, etc.

    2) a job where, when I get to work on monday, my coworkers who file in are generally laughing and smiling and generally making it a nice place to work,

    3) penguin mints. Because I hate coffee, and really, sometimes the caffeine buzz is a blast 😀

  2. Today I am thankful:
    – For cool mornings that smell like summer
    – For my oldest cat, who faithfully curls up on my pillow every night despite the effort it takes her to get on the bed
    – For the love and patience of those closest to me while I am sometimes ungraceful while coping with change

  3. It’s Monday and after a small break from work I am back to the grind. However, I am still thankful:

    1) that a small, black cat knows just when to crawl into my lap and be gentle with me.
    2) for Monday morning laughter that filled the hall with colleagues after a sweet revenge prank.
    3) for honesty and openness.
